CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Northview volleyball team ran into a team nearly as hot as they were on Saturday at the North Montgomery Invitational.
The Knights had won 25-of-27 matches coming into the tourney and the Chesterton Trojans came into the tourney on a 17-game winning streak.
Both teams won their opening game and in the head-to-head matchup, the Trojans were able to escape with the win, 25-17, 25-23.
Northview would go on to win the remainder of their matches to go 3-1 and improve to 28-3 overall.
"I thought we played pretty well," commented Northview coach Scott McDonald. "I'm disappointed we spotted (Chesterton) a 7-0 lead (in the first game) and we had a 10-2 lead in the second game, but let it slip away. Chesterton is a very good team and I'm happy that we played right with them."
In the rest of their matches, North-view won 25-20, 25-22 over Speedway, 25-20, 25-19 over North Montgomery and 25-13, 25-19 against Danville.
"I'm disappointed, overall, that we didn't win the invitational," said McDonald. "But we just couldn't finish (Chesterton) off."
For the Knights, Lindsay Thomas had a combined 82 assists and Kaley Huffman added 24 kills and 22 digs. Kyler Clark had 19 digs and Kaylee Clark added 17. Ashley Hull had 21 kills and nine blocks and Lottie King added 31 kills and 19 digs.
The Knights host Plainfield for Senior Night on Thursday.
