Carbon United Methodist Church

By Mary Egloff

Last Sunday we had a delightful young woman fill the pulpit while our minister, Rick Pressel, was on vacation. We had heard her sing with the group, "Souled Out", this summer at our Church In The Park, but we had never heard her preach. She is a lay speaker from Bethel United Methodist Church. Not only did she come to fill in, but she brought her husband and two others who sang with her. If you weren't there last week, you really missed something very good.

Someone special to us had a birthday last week and we want to wish him a very happy birthday. Happy Birthday, J.C. Somers!!!

The Annual Charge Conference for this area will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, at Harmony UM Church at 2 p.m.. All officers from the participating churches need to attend.

The Administrative Board will have its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. All officers and committee chairmen should plan to attend.

On Tuesday, Oct. 16, the Believers' Women's Group will meet. Linda Grove will be in charge of the meeting, and she announced that the ladies will not need glue guns but to come prepared to paint. Ladies, you have been warned!

Travis Sims will bring his "Magic Show" to the Carbon United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. Everyone, kids and grown-ups alike, is invited to come to this marvelously entertaining, inspiring, and fun-filled show. It is free! The young people of the church, through their Kids Karnival, sponsor him.

Are you still thinking that you ought to attend church one of these days?

Tomorrow would be a good time to try it. "One of these days" may not be there when you get around to it. Sunday School is at 9 a.m., and Worship is at 10 a.m. Try it; you'll like it!

By Eastside Christian Church

Hello again from Eastside Christian Church. The regular meeting of our church board was held last Thursday. We had a guest at the meeting. Brian Fagg came to tell us about the mission he and his wife, Cathy, are involved with.

Their mission is serving with East Asia Opportunites, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. He showed pictures of their work with students in East Asia and some of the many students who have become Christians, and they are also going out and getting others to become Christians. Praise the Lord.

If you would like more information on this ministry, please feel free to call our church, and we will have them contact you.

?If you weren't with us last Sunday, you really missed a great concert, worship service and meal.

It was our Friend Day/Anniversary Sunday, and what a blessing it was. If you ever get a chance to see the Samaritan Quartet, do, because they are truly doing the Lord's work. I, myself, had never heard a bass guitar solo, but their guitarist did Amazing Grace, and it was wonderful.

After the morning worship service, a meal was served, and as usual, was very good. We have a lot of good cooks in our church. Our church has been blessed now for 31 years, and that was part of the celebration. ?If you are not attending church somewhere, why not come be with us tomorrow? Pastor Bill is going to have a sermon on MAKING OUR WAY IN A WHATEVER WORLD, using I Peter 1 as his text. Also, Jonathan Schrader will be ordained, and if you have never seen this, it is a wonderful experience. Our Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. and our worship service is at 10:30 a.m. We do offer a childrens' worship for ages 3-7 during the 10:30 service, where they learn about God on their level.

We are located directly behind Hardee's on Church St.. We are a non-demonational, Bible believing church. And we are also very friendly. We would love to see you, and God would love to have you in His house. Until next time, we will be praying for you.

Our booth at the popcorn festival seemed to be popular. Tony did a good job with the food. Hopefully everyone had as good a time as I did working the booth. Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success.

We will be having a pancake breakfast following mass on Oct. 14. The Knights of Columbus will be doing the cooking.

This week at Bingo we will be having a no-split night for all regular bingos.

We have a large Halloween basket to give to some lucky pull tab winner this week too. Oct. 21 we will give another $1000 giveaway for the large jackpot. We plan on having special things to do on Oct. 28 for Halloween, so plan on coming and joining in the fun. I am pretty sure there will be a costume contest that night also.

I want to acknowledge all of the people who work at the bingo hall. Without them volunteering their time and energy there would be no bingo. So, a heart felt thank you goes out to all who have helped in the past, especially Cathy and Charles, and all those who are helping now. We need all of the volunteers we can get to help each Sunday. Currently we have a schedule set up and you only have to work one Sunday evening a month. Of course if you just want to try it out and see how you like it, you are more than welcome to do that also. That is exactly how I got started and now I am there almost every Sunday. I have a ball out there and I know you will too.

Our bingo hall is located at 8990 N. Kennedy Crossing Rd. across from the Northview High School baseball field. Speed bingo starts at 6 p.m., early bird bingo starts at 6:30 and regular bingo starts at 7 p.m. We are handicapped accessible and we have a lighted parking lot.

In today's world we have so many choices in our everyday life. The problem is making the right choices. That is where wisdom comes in. In your daily prayers do you ask God for wisdom? How do we become wise? Wisdom begins when we ask God to be our supply. Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge to everyday life. Where do we get this knowledge? By reading and studying God's Word and applying it ot our life. Like Jesus, we can grow in wisdom by walking with God.

James 1:5 If you need wisdom - if you need to know what God wants you to do - ask Him and He will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.

Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning and church services are at 11 a.m. Sunday night church services are at 6 p.m. and Wednesday night Bible study is at 7 p.m.

By Bee Ridge Church

Good Morning. Hope you all have had a wonderful and blessed week.

It's a fact that every day won't be the "perfect day" we hope for. Eventually, there will be days when we would like to get in a closet and close the door to everyone and everything in our life. Have you ever felt that way?

You know...having a closet to get into isn't a bad idea. You can call it your PRAYER CLOSET. No, it doesn't actually have to be a closet. You just need to find a solitary place to talk to your heavenly Father. A place to pray, to read His word and meditate on what you just read.

You will find this refreshing if you do it every day of the week. Then, Sunday morning bring your family to Bee Ridge Church, located 1.4 miles north of Northview High School. Bring your kids, too. We have Sunday School for both kids and adults at 9:30 a.m. followed by church services for both at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jeff and the congregation look forward to meeting you. So y'all come. Blessings to all.
