She was born in Clay County, June 21, 1919, to Robert and Martha Young McGowen.
Most of her life was spent caring for her family. In her early years she worked with her mother hanging wallpaper, she also cleaned houses and worked for Windbreaker. In her free time she enjoyed dancing and going to yard sales.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Norman Archer and Art Cardwell, sister Dorothy Buffington, grandson Jason Archer and sister-in-law Jean McGowen.
Survivors include her son Norman "Gene" Archer Jr. and wife Carol, Brazil, daughter Vicky Donnenhoffer and husband Jim, Terre Haute and son John Archer and wife Cheryl, Brazil, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two brothers, James McGowen, Florida, and Norman McGowen and wife Jackie, Brazil, as well as a special "guardian angel" Shannette Bays.
Services for Rose will be at French Funeral Home Monday, Oct. 14, 2007, with Bro. Doug Parkey officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
