Local man steals semi

A global positioning system helped local law enforcement help find a semi trailer containing 21,000 cases of clay pigeons stolen from an Indianapolis company earlier in the week and other miscellaneous stolen items at a rural Brazil residence Thursday night.

According to Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton, an unidentified Indianapolis delivery company contacted the department after the GPS system installed in a stolen trailer determined it was located near Clay County.

Officers served a Putnam County arrest warrant for possession of stolen property at Shayne Frost's residence located on the Clay/Putnam County line.

After locating the trailer, Frost, 32, was taken into custody on the warrant and booked into the Clay County Justice Center.

Finding several security pieces missing from the semi-trailer, officers obtained a search warrant to look through several buildings located on the property.

A second search warrant was obtained after locating several stolen vehicles, including two stolen motorcycles, and potential drug paraphernalia.

Officers located methamphetamine, approximately 15 guns (two of which were illegal sawed-off shotguns) and a large number of tools with the serial numbers scratched off.

Frost remains incarcerated at the Clay County Justice Center awaiting arrangement.

Heaton said further charges against Frost are pending the ongoing investigation into the matter.
