Officials are investigating the shooting of a Brazil man in rural Montgomery County Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 12:35 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene where a male victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds near the Offield Monument Road on the banks of Sugar Creek.
The victim, Joshua L. Light, 23, Brazil, was taken to the Crawfordsville St. Claire Hospital and later transported to Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. Officials confirm that Light is listed in critical condition.
Members of the Lafayette Post of the Indiana State Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and the Crawfordsville Police Department are involved in the continuing investigation.
A suspect, Chad A. Brock, 30, Crawfordsville, has been arrested and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail with no bond on several preliminary charges. No further information will be made available about the investigation, but officials confirmed that Brock has been charged with three Class A felonies (including attempted murder, burglary, kidnapping), two Class B felonies (aggravated battery and confinement) and one Class D felony charge (residential entry).
