According to a press release by Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Joe Watts, investigators released information late Monday afternoon that allege four to five other bullets struck Van Buren Elementary School during a shooting at the school Thursday afternoon when one bullet pierced two cafeteria glass doors and hit the ceiling.
Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technician Jason Fajt collected evidence of several bullet holes at the school Thursday to see whether they match the bullet found in the cafeteria area. Officials will not release information about the samples sent to the Indiana State Police Crime Laboratory for analysis at this time.
Officials are seeking assistance with any information about two white male suspects driving a black or shiny black, late-model, full-size van with no side windows, seen traveling north on Harmony Road at the time of the incident.
To report information about this case, contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at 446-2535, extension 5, or the Indiana State Police at 1-800-742-0717.
