Clyde Davis Stantz, 80, Coal City, passed died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at 3 p.m., at Monroe Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Iowa on Nov. 15, 1926, the son of Claude and Belva Pardington Stantz.
He was a farmer for years and had worked at the Clay Plant in Brazil. He enjoyed the out of doors â€" hunting, feeding squirrels, watching baseball and spending time with his grandkids.
Clyde served his country in the United States Army being honorably discharged in 1946. He married Betty Jean Newport March 27, 1948, and she preceded him in death in 1988.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gilbert Pickard, Coal City, a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Vickie Stantz, Coal City, seven grandchildren; Steve Pickard, Jeff Pickard, Bill Pickard and wife JoLynn, Barbara Allen and husband Chad, Christina Stantz, Kevin Stantz, Jr. and fiancĂ© Crystal, Sabrina Stantz; a brother, Kenny Stantz, Sr., and two sisters Anna Mary Smith and Sharon Smith and husband Robert; 12 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Services will be at Schoppenhorst funeral home Saturday Oct. 27, 2007, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Fiscus Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Visit www.schoppenhorstfuneralhome.com to light a candle in his memory.
