Collision sends two to hospital

Friday, October 26, 2007

Officials believe failure to yield the right of way was the cause of a Friday evening accident that sent two people to the hospital.

At 3:43 p.m., several 911 calls came into the Clay County Justice Center about a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Murphy Road and United States 40.

Members of the Brazil City Police and Fire departments were dispatched to the scene along with TransCare to assist the victims.

According to an accident report filed by Sgt. Dennis Archer, Nida Blundell, 61, Brazil, and Tony Barnett, 44, Harmony, were both injured during a side-impact collision.

Both individuals were taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for unknown injuries.

As of press time, officials had not released which driver was cited in the incident.
