Busy weekend for law enforcement officials

Emergency response personnel across the county were extremely busy this weekend responding to accidents and fires.

According to information provided by the Clay County Justice Center, the following incidents took place from Oct. 26-28.

On Friday, Oct. 26,

• Around 4:18 p.m., Deputy Jerry Siddons responded to an accident in the area of County Road 1400 North and Murphy Avenue. Minor property damage was reported.

• Shortly before midnight, Sgt. Best responded to an accident in the area near United States 40 and C.R. 550 W. Minor property damage was reported.

On Saturday, Oct. 27,

• Shortly after midnight, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Dan Best responded to a possible accident in the area of US 40, just south of Craig Avenue. Best discovered an abandoned vehicle in a ditch. Officials are still looking for the driver.

• Around 12:30 p.m., members of Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department were assisted by the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department during a vehicle fire in an area near C.R. 800 E., just north of Division Road, Bowling Green. The vehicle sustained substantial damage during the fire.

• Around 9 p.m., members of Dick Johnson and Van Buren Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house trailer fire on C.R. 1385 N. Firefighters battled the fire for more than three hours.

• Shortly before midnight, Sgt. Dan Best responded to a single vehicle accident in an area near the 20-mile marker in the west-bound lane of Interstate 70. The occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries when it hit a guardrail. TransCare took the victims to a local hospital.

On Sunday, Oct. 28,

• Shortly after 5 a.m., Clay County Sheriff's Deputy James Switzer responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of C.R. 800 N. and S.R. 59. Minor property damage was reported.

• Shortly after 8 a.m., Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Hardy responded to a accident in the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Centers, 4376 N. S.R. 59. Minor property damage was reported.

• Shortly before 9 a.m., Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Siddons responded to an accident in an area near US 40 and Johnson Street, Harmony. Minor property damage was reported.
