TERRE HAUTE -- Basketball teams in Vigo and Clay County got the chance to square off against players with a different name on their jersey on Saturday afternoon.

After competing in an intra-squad scrimmage on Thursday night, Northview took part in a jamboree with Terre Haute South, West Vigo and Terre Haute North over the weekend.

The Knights split the two quarters in which they competed, taking an early lead against Terre Haute North in the second quarter before falling, 11-8. Against West Vigo, the Knights broke open their offense, scoring 29 points in outscoring the Vikings, 29-11.

Terre Haute South, returning all five starters from a team that lost only twice last year, rolled up 29 points in the opening quarter against the Vikings and got a combined 13 points from Junior All-Star Megan Craft. Front court power Dragana Grbic tallied 12 points and eight boards for the Braves, who should likely be a top-five team in Class 4A when polls are released.

Northview actually had a lead against Terre Haute North in their second quarter matchup, but the Patriots got a backcourt boost from Alexa McFadden and a late 3-pointer from Lynsey Butler to take the three-point win in the quarter.

The Raines sisters flexed their muscle in the next period against the Vikings, combining for 20 points.

Stormi Raines had 11 points and Spring Raines added nine points and four steals in the quarters.

The Knights also got four points from senior Tara Crooks and two points each from Erica Lee, Katie Smith and Emily Phillips with Ashley Hargis providing four points. Kirstin Kimball led the Knights with four rebounds.

The Braves were able to edge out their county rivals, Terre Haute North, in the final period of play, 14-10.

Northview will open the season in the Clabber Girl Classic on Wednesday night when they take on Sullivan in the second game of the evening following the 6 p.m. game between Owen Valley and West Vigo.
