With Veteran's Day falling on Sunday this year, some Clay County schools are opting to recognize veterans early.
On Friday, Clay City Jr./Sr. High School is putting on a program in the auditeria for students and the public at 10:30 a.m.
The guest speaker is Volitta Fritsche of Martinsville. Her son, Ryan, was killed in Afghanistan this summer.
Fritsche will be speaking as well as showing a power-point presentation.
Ryan, a 2002 graduate of Martinsville High School, enlisted after the Sept. 11, 2001 attack.
Members of the public who would like to attend should enter the school through the front door (marked number one).
Also on Friday, Forest Park Elementary School Student Council will present the meaning of Veteran's Day to the student body.
The council researched and put together the presentation, which will begin at 2 p.m., in the gym.
More school Veteran's Day celebrations will be announced in Friday's paper.
