We lost another of our faithful old folks this past week and we will miss her. Joan Robinson, the wife of Glen Robinson, came to our area about ten or fifteen years ago, and became a very beloved friend of everyone who knew her. About a year ago, she left Carbon and returned to Indianapolis to be near her sons, but her presence was still felt in our little church. We will miss her.

Tomorrow, Nov. 11, the church will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a big dinner at noon.

We encourage everyone to join us for Worship and plan to stay for dinner. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and rolls will be furnished. Everyone is asked to bring either a salad, a vegetable, or a dessert. Sounds good, doesn't it?

On Thursday, Nov. 15, the annual joint service celebrating Thanksgiving/Harvest will be at 7 p.m. at our church. The people from the Carbon Nazarene Church will be our guests for the evening.

There will be special music and a special message of Thanksgiving. Usually at our joint services, no offering is taken up, but this time, those who wish to may contribute their offering which will go to the House of Hope.

The Administrative Board will meet on Monday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. The Believers Women's Group will meet of Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. Ladies, we will be planning the meal for the Town & Country Men's meeting which will be on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at our church.

Marshall Hendrix is in Union Hospital and could use some cheering up.

We were happy to have Rev. Rick's son Aaron and his girlfriend Ty visit us at church last Sunday. They stayed long enough to stay for church before they started back to Florida. I'm sure Rick and Cindy enjoyed their visit greatly.

Don't forget our Thanksgiving service and dinner tomorrow. Sunday School is at 9 a.m. and Worship is at 10 a.m.

Sunday was a beautiful day. It was just as beautiful inside the church as it was outside. The music was so good. ?If you attended the House of Hope banquet, I am sure you found it inspirational. We want to keep them in our prayers.?

Our prayers also go out to the Madge Reed family. Madge went to be with her Lord last week. ?

If you are not attending church anywhere else, please come be with us. We have quite a few things planned for the next few weeks.

With Thanksgiving only a couple of weeks away, we need to remember to be thankful that we live in this wonderful country with the many freedoms that we have. God is so good, and we should thank Him everyday for all things. Even when things are not going as well as we would want them to, He is still there for us. ?

The Hanging of the Greens will be Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. Some are meeting at Hardee's beforehand for coffee and/or breakfast, and then going over to the church.? Nov. 25 starts our Sunday evenings of special music, which will include Mary Price and friends on Dec. 2 and Jack Bozwell Gospel Band on Dec. 16. The music for Dec. 9 will be announced later.

If you don't want to come to our morning service, I know you would enjoy these evening services. ?We will be having our Christmas Candlelight service on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. We would also like to invite you to this.

?Our Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30, with our worship service at 10:30. We do offer a separate worship for children 3-7 in conjunction with our 10:30 service, where they learn about God on their level. The message this week will still be on Pastor Bill's theme, MAKING YOUR WAY IN A WHATEVER WORLD, with the topic being A Reason to Live.

We also have a Sunday night service at 6 p.m., and a Bible study on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m., where he is going through the book of Hebrews from beginning to end.

We would love to have you come to any of these or all of them. Remember there is not always tomorrow. And only through Jesus Christ can you have eternal life. Our church is located directly behind Hardee's on Church St.. Until next time, God willing, we will be praying for you.

Why is it that some people are inspired and challenged when they go to church and some walk away feeling empty?

Although both groups of people may share similar concerns and burdens, one group receive the strength and wisdom they need to face their circumstance, while the other group doesn't.

The main reason may be that one group has learned to listen to God's Word, while the other group unfortunately hasn't.

Whether sitting in church of hearing it on television or radio, we need to know how to gather facts in the life giving truth of the Bible. It's when we hold on to the Scripture with our hearts that God can work in extraordinary ways through us. If you don't have a strong yearning to know Scripture, then perhaps you don't really want to know God. It's through the Word that you develop an intimate relationship with Him.

In Nehemiah 8:3 testifies that Ezra read "from early morning until midday... and all the people were attentive to the book of the law" however, we spend countless hours in front of computers and television, concentrating on messages that don't have a fraction of the value that the Bible does. God has important things to say to us and we need to concentrate on His Word.

Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. and church services are at 10:30 a.m. Sunday evening services are at 6 p.m. Wednesday night Bible Study is at 7 p.m.

We are located one block north of US 40 on State Road 59, in the building S.O.S. (Service on Street) has graciously allowed us to use.

Please come join us in our worship service.
