He was born in Muncie, Aug. 2, 1938, to Paul H. and Alberta E. Ackerman Blundell.
Bill joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served stateside until being honorably discharged in October 1957.
Following his return from the military he worked for General Housewares, Terre Haute. and Diamond Match Co., Wilmington, Ill. He also worked for Pruett Manufacturing, Terre Haute, from which he retired in August 2003.
He married Nida McCullough Allen July 3, 1988, she survives. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing as well as woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Pauline Blundell, and a granddaughter Diedra Blundell.
Survivors include his wife Nida, sons, Bill Blundell and wife Kathy, Terre Haute, Mike Blundell, Brazil, and David Blundell and wife Tisha, Terre Haute, Rob Allen and wife Debbie, Mesa, Ariz., Dan Allen, Plainfield, grandchildren William Joseph Blundell, Hessie Marie Blundell, Destiny Rose Blundell, Cullin, Kyle, Conner, Corina Allen, Cory Ratts and Danielle Allen, great-grandson William Owen Blundell, sister Hazel Scorby, Diamond, Ill., as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel cemetery with military services conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
