A Vigo County woman was hospitalized after a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 9 a.m., Jennifer Rivers, 33, rural Fountanet, called 911 dispatchers at the Clay County Justice Center to report her vehicle had slid through the intersection of county roads 1000 North and 300 West and slammed into a guardrail.
Members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Dick Johnson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Clay County Search and Rescue responded to the scene.
After Rivers was extricated from her 1993 Ford Crown Victoria, Deputy Jerry Siddons said she was taken to a local hospital for treatment for lacerations to her face and arms.
Rivers' injuries may have occurred when the airbag deployed according to Siddons, who said it is unclear at this time if weather conditions or speed played a factor in the accident which is still under investigation.
