Violet May Anderson, 73, Saraland, Ala., formerly of Clay County, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in Mobile, Ala.

She was born March 8, 1934, in Sullivan, Ind., the daughter of Vera Lucille Cox Phegley and Carl E. Phegley.

She graduated from Brazil High School and later entered in U.S. Air Force. During her stay in the Air Force she met and later married her sweetheart, Kenneth Earl Stacy Anderson. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 2000.

Violet and Kenneth lived many places during their marriage, including Rock Hill, S.C. Following Kenneth's' death, Violet spent much of her time between Alabama and Clay County. She attended the Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland and was a loving Mom, Grandma and Sister.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Howard Anderson, Loralea Anderson Lolley of Mobile, Kenneth E.S. Anderson of Mobile, Rhonda Lucille Winter of Rockhill, S.C., Mark Edward Anderson of Lakeland, Ga., David Alan Anderson of Miss.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and was expecting three more great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Brown and husband George, Bertha Batchelor and husband Reynolds, Rachelle Phegley, Sheila Maesch and husband Bobby, Chris Reid and husband Jim all of Clay County; three brothers Carl Phegley and wife Phyllis, of Terre Haute, Edward Phegley and wife Anna, of Seelyville, and Keith Phegley of Brazil; sister in law, Vonna Phegley and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Anderson; one son, Donald Brian Anderson; one sister Hester Raab, and one brother, Sam Phegley.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Perth Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be held in her honor. Visitation will be Saturday from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
