One person died, one was taken to an Indianapolis hospital and a third sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of County Road 950 North and Kennedy Crossing Road Friday evening. Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton said that no information about the victims would be released until official notification of the three victim's families.
Around 9:25 p.m., dispatchers at the Clay County Justice Center were notified of a two-vehicle accident involving three unidentified juveniles near the intersection of County Road 950 North and Kennedy Crossing Road.

At this time, officials believe a northbound vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle, but it is unclear exactly how the accident occurred.

Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton said an accident reconstruction would be performed to help determine the official cause of incident, which could take a couple of weeks to complete.

Officials confirmed that one victim sustained minor injuries, one was taken by air ambulance to an Indianapolis hospital and Clay County Coroner Rick Swearingen pronounced the third victim dead at the scene.

Heaton said that no information about the victims would be released until official notification of the three victim's families.

Members of the Brazil City Police, Dick Johnson and Posey Township Volunteer Fire Departments and the Clay County Search and Rescue provided assistance at the accident scene.

The Brazil Times will provide updates about this story as they become available.

Any time you lose a child is horrible. But with so close close to the holidays. My prayers are with them in this time of sorrow.
