City to conduct income survey for future grant

Monday, November 26, 2007

The City of Brazil is asking residents for their assistance with a project that will assist the city in obtaining grant funds to replace its current water tower.

The city is working with West Central Economic Development District to conduct a confidential and random income survey for the Community Development Block Grant Program through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

The state has developed strict guidelines for the city to follow.

It must complete 400 randomly selected household surveys in order to obtain the desired grant money.

The two-page survey is already in place, but the city needs responses to qualify for the grant funds.

Depending on the responses from area residents, the city hopes to have the surveys completed before the holidays in time to reach the first round of grant submissions, which is January 2008.

If the city does not receive an adequate response, it will have to conduct the surveys door-to-door until it reaches its required amount.

Those filling out the surveys are asked to complete the cover sheet and the community development survey form and return to Harold House, Grants Administrator, 203 E. National Ave., Brazil.

Residents should note that the cover sheet and the survey form will be separated upon receipt and all information will be kept confidential.
