He was born March 9, 1931, in Portland, Ind., to Clyde and Faye (Greer) Denney.
He was a 1949 graduate of Portland (Ind.) High School, attended Ball State University and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea. Dick was an Administrator for Clay County Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1994, a member of the Brazil Elks Lodge #762, American Legion Post #2, a former member of the Brazil Rotary Club and enjoyed golf and computers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Wall.
Survivors include his wife Merle (Franklin) Denney, four children, Larry Denney and wife Kathy, Kannapolis, N.C., Pamela Hunley, Brazil, Michele Hines and husband Bruce, Brazil, and Steve Denney, Kissimmee, Fla., seven grandchildren, Amy Denney, B.J. Hawkens and husband Kelly, Brazil, Landy Michael and husband Brian, Cincinnati, Ohio, Bruce Hines Jr. And wife Teresa, Brazil, Amber Dawn Williams and husband Derrick, Ridgeville, Ind., John Christopher Hunley, Portland, and Matthew Philip Hunley, Portland, and 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Norma Imel and husband Jack, California, Carolyn Stephen and husband Larry, Portland.
Services will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, in the French Funeral Home with visitation from 4 p.m. until services. Cremation will follow.
