Fred Jackman Jr., 78, Bridgeton, died at 11:48 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.
Born Aug. 16, 1929, in Raccoon Township, Parke County, he was the son of the late Fred Jackman Sr. and Gladys White Jackman.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
He was a 1947 graduate of Bridgeton High School. He loved woodworking, using a scroll saw to make many beautiful items.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rosemary Bullock Jackman, whom he married Nov. 18, 1950; son, Todd Jackman and wife Lorrie, Bridgeton; three daughters, Marcia Sherman and husband Tim, Austin, Texas, Melanie Boyd and husband Alan Neal, Brazil, and Melinda Helton, Brazil; brother Larry Jackman and wife Sue, Brazil; four sisters, Phyllis West and husband Wayne, Brazil, Alice Waldridge and husband Jack, Lafayette, Joan Thompson and husband Norris, Carbon, and Mary Ellen Chaney, Rosedale; eight grandchildren, Anna Sherman, Aaron Sherman, Adrianne Sherman, Heather Scott and husband Troy, Catie Helton, Casey Helton, Christina Helton, and Brad Hiland and fiancÚ Robin Little; one great-grandson, Hayden Scott; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Odetta Witty and Ruth Anne Pyle.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main St., Rosedale, with his son-in-law, Rev. Tim Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery, Bridgeton.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home and again before services Saturday.
