Northview freshmen basketball fans went away happy on Wednesday night as both the boys and girls' teams scored wins over visiting West Vigo.

The boys' team withstood a barrage of 3- pointers by the Vikings in the third quarter and used a six-point run to start the fourth quarter to score a 44-37 victory.

The girls' team meanwhile, took control with their defense, holding the Vikings scoreless in the first and third quarters to win 39-13.

Sean Hauser knocked down three, 3-pointers in the second quarter to propel the Knights to a 20-19 lead at halftime. Hauser's perimeter barrage helped offset foul trouble by post threat Jordan Van Horn, who saw minimal time in the first half.

Aaron Baker scored six first half points for the Vikings and Cole Lydick knocked down a 3-pointer to get the Vikings within a point at the break.

Hunter Robertson nailed a 3-pointer in the first quarter and got to the line for three free throws in the second quarter for the Knights.

Opening the second half, Jordan King scored in the paint for Northview and Hauser drove to the basket to push the lead to 24-19. Robertson then knocked home his second 3-pointer to cap a 7-0 run to give the Knights a 27-19 lead.

Seemingly gaining control of the game, the Knights then saw West Vigo hit a trio of 3-pointers to end the quarter.

Dylan Aff hit the first followed by trifectas from Lydick and Baker to get the Vikings within 29-18 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Knights jumped out to a 37-29 lead on a rebound and putback by Van Horn with less than two minutes remaining, but the Vikings strung together an 8-2 run to get back to 39-37 with 1:09 left.

Justin Rodgers snapped the string for the Knights and Robertson finished off a 17-point night with a hoop followed by a free throw by Rodgers to finish the win.

Hauser added 14 points and six rebounds and King added five boards.

In the girls' game, Darcy Bass and Jenny Gabriel led the first quarter charge to take a 13-0 lead after the first six minutes.

With five new players starting the second quarter, Jonica Johnson got into the post for all six Northview points and two rebounds.

Leading 19-6 at halftime, Northview didn't let up to start the third quarter as Raven Enders knocked down a jumper and then hit from the baseline to give Northview a 23-6 lead.
