She was born Nov. 9, 1912, and lived her entire life in the Clay County area.
She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1931 and was employed at the Clay County Hospital from 1970-72.
On May 2, 1931, she was united in marriage to Oliver Coltharp who passed away March 14, 1992. They resided at their farm North of Brazil for 60 years. Mary is a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and was active in the Service Guild until losing her eye-sight.
She is survived by three children, Barbara Gardner and husband Sherman of Bayonet Point, Fla., Jane Holmes and husband Jim of Speedway, Ind., and Mike Coltharp and wife Cindy of Beech Grove, Ind.; four granddaughters, Brenda Litherland and husband Allen of Eldorado, Ill., Kathy Holmes of Speedway, Ind., Karen Hadlock and husband Jim of Taylor, S.C., and Janice Johnson of Darlington, S.C.; three grandsons, David Latham, Jacob Dowling Coltharp of Beech Grove, Ind., and Kenneth Coltharp of Georgetown, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; brother Tom Daughtery and wife Virginia, South Bend, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by a brother, James Daugherty, as well as her parents Anna and William Daugherty, and her husband Oliver Coltharp.
Funeral services will be conducted at Lawson-Miller Chapel Tuesday Dec. 4, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Greg Putnam. Burial will follow in the families plot at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will also be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
