TYLER, Tx. -- Avenue Broadband Communications, Inc. announced Tuesday that the acquisition of southern Indiana and Illinois systems from Charter Communications has been completed.
Approximately 40,000 subscribers are affected. The largest systems are in Vincennes, Brazil and Mitchell, Ind., Westville, Paris and Hoopeston, Ill.
"We are delighted that this acquisition is complete," Avenue President Kay Monigold said. " We have planned an aggressive upgrade program that will bring advanced services to the majority of these communities. High Definition Television is a priority. We will be launching HD and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) in Vincennes, Westville, Brazil and Paris in the next 45 days. Other HD/DVR launches will follow shortly thereafter."
Other planned upgrades include the introduction of High Speed Internet to additional systems, as well as Digital Telephone.
"We are opening a new Customer Service Center in Vincennes," Monigold added. "Our customers will be talking with customer care representatives who are familiar with their communities and their needs. We believe our customers will be pleased with this change. In addition, we are working very closely with Charter to assure a smooth transition for our subscribers."
Other communities in Illinois to be affected include Sumner and St. Francisville, while Winslow, Nashville, Loogootee, French Lick, Morgan County, Morgantown, Hendricks County, Edinburgh, Princes Lakes, Spencer County, Crawford County, Dubois County, Elberfield, Lynnville and Troy are the Indiana communities which will be affected by the change.
