The event is billed as a band-choir-dance-drama performance.
NHS band director Bob Medworth said the event has grown over the years.
"Usually, it's just about sold out all three nights," he said of the event, which takes place in the school auditorium. "Somewhere in the late 80s, it began as a one-night band and choir concert and, over the years, drama and dance was added.
"In the early 90s, it grew to two nights and then three nights. We are probably on the verge of needing to add a Saturday afternoon matinee."
Medworth said the event was renamed the Northview Christmas Spectacular in 1997.
In order to accommodate the NHS band 80-person "pit band," Medworth said the two front rows of the auditorium will be removed and a "fake stage" is constructed.
"Not every band student plays all three nights," he said. "Some only play one night and some play all three depending on their experience level.
"The drama, dance and choir numbers take place on the stage. It is basically a one-hour Christmas variety show."
This year, three drama pieces, titled "The Christmas Pageant" are scheduled. Students taking part in the drama pieces include Alisha May, Tiffany Rusin, Melissa Roberts and Summer Wagner-Walker.
In addition to the drama and dance numbers, the Northview band is tentatively scheduled to perform "Joy" (arranged by Pete Kikta), "Christmas Celebration," "Twas The Night Before Christmas," "A Holiday Sing-A-Long," "Nutcracker Suite," "Auld Lang Syne," and "Good King Wencelas."
The Knight Singers are tentatively set to perform "White Christmas," "All Is Merry And All Is Bright," "Deck The Nutcracker Hall," and "No Biz Like Snow Biz," while a girls' ensemble will perform "The Christmas Song," "On This Still, Silent Night," and "A Jingle Bell Christmas."
The two choirs combined will perform "Welcome The Holidays/It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" and "Ring Those Christmas Bells," and the Northview percussion ensemble will perform "Carol Of The Bells."
The entire cast will close each evening with a performance of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."
Medworth said many of the arrangements were set up specifically for NHS students and professional lighting effects will be part of the performance this year, through the help of Tyler Hutcheson, from the St. Mary-of-the-Woods theater department.
