The Melody Makers of Clay County will be singing Christmas music for some upcoming events and would like to invite the community to join them in celebrating the season through sacred and secular music.

Members of the group are also part of a statewide group, Melody Makers of Indiana, choruses from throughout the state who meet to sing a joint concert at Purdue University in the summer and also present a concert at the Indiana State Fair.

The local group started a little over a year ago and has grown to a chorus of 25 members, including director Doris Pell.

The group has three more performances this year. On Saturday, it will perform at Riddell National Bank for an open house from 9 a.m.-noon. On Sunday, the group will perform at Eastside Christian Church, beginning at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 15, it will perform at New Hope Baptist Church, south of Clay City, starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited to all performances.

Ladies of all ages are welcome to come and sing on Jan. 14, 2008, when the chorus begins preparing music for its spring concert. No auditions are necessary.

Rehearsals take place each Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the St. John's United Church of Christ on State Road 42. For more information, call Pell at 448-2643.
