Hazel M. Kelly, 90, Brazil, died at 5:08 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Bruce and the late Zelma (Kane) Young. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1936 and attended Butler University.

During WWII she worked at a defense manufacturing plant as a punch press operator. Following graduation from beauty academy, she operated a beauty shop. She also worked at GC Murphys in Brazil, the YWCA in Indianapolis and as a dental assistant following graduation from dental training school. She became a nursing home administrator at an Indianapolis facility and then worked as an administrator at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her infant sisters, Helen and Myra Young and one brother, Marvin E. Young.

She is survived by her son, Winton T. Kelly (wife Carletta), Brazil, two grandchildren, Clint Kelly, Brazil, and Lacy Kelly, Bloomington, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Moore Funeral Home, Brazil, with Reverend William Price officiating. Burial will follow at Croys Creek Cemetery.
