Born Oct. 13, 1917, at Anderson Township, Clark County, Ill., he was the son of Harry Higginbotham and Bertha Ledermann Higginbotham.
He married Mildred L. Fowler Higginbotham on Jan. 22, 1941, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 2001.
He was a retired farmer. He had served for a number of years on the ASC Land Services board in Martinsville, Ill. He was a lifetime member of the Clark County Farm Bureau. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in April 1949, and served a four-year term.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry D. "Bub" Higginbotham, Brazil, and Larry E. "Pro" Higginbotham and his wife Sheryl, Sarasota, Fla.; four sisters, Norma Wilhoit, Marshall, Ill., Eleanor Barkalow, Madison, Wis., Marjorie Moran, Cherokee Village, Ark., and Doris Jenkins and her husband Gene, Silver Springs, Md.; two brothers, Russell Higginbotham, rural Marshall, Ill., and Gerald Higginbotham, West Union, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Woodrow Higginbotham; sister-in-law Fairy Higginbotham; and three brothers-in-law, William Moran, Rev. Gale Barkalow, and Maurice Wilhoit.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. (CST), Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel, West Union, Ill., with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery, west of West Union, Ill.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. (CST), Tuesday, and Wednesday from 7 a.m. until time of service.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be given to the Harrison Cemetery to assist with its upkeep.
