A single-vehicle accident Tuesday resulted in a Clay County woman being transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Clay County Sheriff's Department officials said Mary L. Trefz, Carbon, was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital after complaining of pain following the accident, which took place on County Road 200 W., or what is commonly referred to as Meridian Road.

The accident is still under investigation. However, the vehicle appeared to be traveling south on the road before veering off and coming to a rest in a ditch on the east side of the road.

A 16-month-old child passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Transcare, CCSD, Clay County Search and Rescue, Indiana State Police, Brazil City Fire Department and Dick Johnson Volunteer Fire Department officials all responded to the accident.

More information will appear in The Brazil Times when it becomes available.
