Ned A. Wicker

God's plan for Ned Allen Wicker, 54, Rockville, was fulfilled at 4:03 p.m., Tuesday Dec. 11, 2007, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

He was born June 28, 1953, in Greenfield to Herbert A. and Esther L. Wicker (Hine). Ned married Mary Margaret (Stearley) on Aug. 30, 1980, who survives.

He was a graduate of Greenfield Central High School, Purdue University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. He served as an educator for 31 years, teaching high school science and biology, and continued his career as an assistant principal/athletic director at Morgan Township Middle High School, Valparaiso, Ind.

His passion for basketball lead him to coach for 28 years throughout the state of Indiana including Selician Prep School, Tell City High School, Clay City High School, Triton High School (Bourbon), Pike Central High School, Eastside High School (Butler), Yorktown High School, Jay County High School, Cathedral High School (Indianapolis), Rockville High School and Seeger High School. He was a member of Indiana Association of School Principals, Indiana Athletic Directors Association, and Indiana Coaches Association. He was S.A.D.D. sponsor while at Rockville High School and served in Kiwanis Club International. Ned was an active member and former elder of Rockville Christian Church.

He cherished five daughters and two son in-laws, Marci (Matt) Stephenson, Columbus, Ind., Kristi (Brian) Lickert, Palm Bay, Fla., Ashli Wicker, Alleni Wicker and Jayci Wicker, Rockville, two grandchildren Paytynn Lickert and Blake Stephenson, sister Nancy (Louis) Milli, Morristown, Ind., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at Rockville Christian Church Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14, from 3- 8 p.m., at the church.
