Audrey Jane Scott Waite, 82, Clay City, passed away at 3:40 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Born April 9, 1925, in Wabash, Ind.., she was the daughter of Gainor Douglas and Zelma T. Ring Scott.

She was a member of the Clay City First United Church of Christ, a 1943 graduate of Wabash High School and was Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack No. 2 in Clay City for many years.

She enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, crocheting and quilting and her membership in the Terre Haute YMCA Senior Swim Club.

Survivors include four sons, David G. Waite and wife Martha, Clinton, Douglas S. Waite and wife Marlane, Clay City; William P. Waite, and Gary E. Waite and wife Roseanne, Cory; three daughters, Nancy J. Alumbaugh and husband Cletis, Carlisle, Carol J. Gaskins and husband Rick, Sullivan, and Sharon S. McHenry and husband John, Clay City; an aunt, Marjorie Lanning, Columbus; 15 grandchildren, Gregory D. Waite, Steven D. Waite, Andrew S. Waite, Brock W. Waite, Kelsey K. Waite, Kasey N. Waite, Sarah E. Reeves, Molly L. Warren, Benjamin E. Waite, Kenny Waite, Ryan J. McHenry, Megan J. McHenry, Sean P. McHenry, Molly A. McHenry and Melissa B. McHenry; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Michelle Huxford, Gabrielle Lynn Warren and Corbin S. Waite.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen E. Waite; a son, Ezra Waite; and two sisters, Alice Baxter and Carol Engelman.

Services will take place at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, with visitation from noon until time of services. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clay City Cub Scout Packs.
