Brazil resident and Greencastle High School senior Janelle Huber, performed with the Indiana State All-Star Band last weekend at Indiana State University.
Huber was selected as a piccolo soloist for the band, her third consecutive year in the position.
In January, Huber will perform with the Indiana Music Educator's All-State Honor Band, as principal flute and piccolo performer. The event will take place in Indianapolis. Like the All-Star Band, this will be her third and final year performing at the event before she attends college.
Huber's brother, John Philip, will also perform in the Collegiate Honor Band during the same music convention. He is a junior euphonium player majoring in music at Indiana State University.
In June, Janelle will perform for the second time with the John Philip Sousa National High School Honor Band in New Orleans under the direction of Col. John Bourgeois, retired director of the United States Marine Band.
Janelle is principal flute and piccolo player for the Greencastle High School band and performs with the Brazil Concert Band, Jackson Township Community Band and Community Theater of Clay County.
She will attend Indiana State University next year, where she will major in music education and plans to become a high school band director.
