An alleged violent felon wanted on a fugitive warrant from the State of Florida was arrested in Clay County Thursday.

According to a Clay County Sheriff's Department press release, Ronald Lee Woods, 21, Florida, was arrested Thursday without incident at the Howard Johnson Hotel, 935 West State Road 42, near Interstate 70.

Chief Deputy Rob Gambill told The Brazil Times that a tip from The United States Marshals Service, working in conjunction with the Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force, led to Woods' arrest.

"Woods was staying with a family member at the hotel. The two were working local construction jobs," Gambill said about the arrest that took place shortly after 1 p.m.

Gambill thanked local Deputy U.S. Marshal Greg Snyder, from the Terre Haute branch of the U.S. Marshals' office, and members of the Brazil City Police Department for their assistance in the case.

Florida authorities issued a fugitive warrant against Woods for alleged sexual involvement with a 7-year-old female child. Woods is facing a felony charge of rape on a person less than 12-years-old.

Gambill said there are no local charges at this time against Woods, who is being held at the Clay County Justice Center without bond until the extradition process to return him to Florida is completed.
