She was born June 19, 1927, to Oveal and Charles Petty in Dick Johnson Township.
She married William (Bill) Pierce on Dec. 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2001.
June worked for many years at Oehler's Dime store. She retired from ISU in 1991 after 24 years. She had also been employed as the jail cook at the Clay County Sheriff's Department from 1992- 2001. June also sold Avon for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil. She enjoyed her friends from the Sunshine Club and playing bingo as well as crocheting. She also enjoyed her family.
Survivors include her son, Larry Pierce and wife Debbie, two brothers; Wilbur and Delores Petty, and Donald and Carolyn Petty, both of Brazil; four grandchildren; Brian and Laurie Pierce, Andrew Pierce, Brad and Christa Pierce and Ashley and husband, Brooks Lear; five great-grandchildren; Caitlyn, Jacob, Sloan, Peyton, and Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at French Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be before the service at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
