Northview in second place after first day of Mooresville Tourney

MOORESVILLE -- The Northview Knights advanced four wrestlers into today's semifinal round at the Mooresville Holiday Classic.

In all, 10 competitors are still alive in a quest for a third place or better in today's second round that begins at 9 a.m.

Castle leads the team points with Northview and Homestead holding down second place.

Luke Pingleton remains alive in the championship bracket after scoring a first round win over freshman Shawn Wasley before upsetting No. 2 seed Quintin Dormeier of Castle to advance into the semifinal round.

Teammate Brandon Mikesell also nabbed an upset victory for himself, defeating West Noble's second-seeded Doug Rush in round two. Mikesell, a freshman, improves to 12-6 and moves into this morning's semifinal bout.

At 140 pounds, Beau Pingleton is the top seed and scored two victories to remain in the championship hunt along with second seeded 135-pounder Brandon Hathaway.

Also alive for day two will be Skyler Hall at 103 pounds, Kyle McCoy at 130-pounds and Zach Stultz at 135 pounds. Caleb Dutrow, Tom Herr-Smith and Jared Staley begin today with the goal of working back through the brackets.
