A quick reminder if you will.
This particular day is a wonderful opportunity to kick back, entertain company or spend time with family or friends.
New Year's Eve. One of the best days of the year.
It marks the end of one year and the beginning of a new one.
But be careful.
We at The Brazil Times plead with readers not to go out and -- for lack of a better term -- overdo it.
Sure, it's a great time. Yes, people are going to go out, spend time in clubs or wherever people plan to go to ring in the new year while watching the apple drop in New York.
But be responsible.
Those commercials are real.
For several years, extra law enforcement has spent time out on the roads during the week prior to New Year's Eve and you can be sure they will be out again today.
But it's their job.
Those officers get paid to monitor traffic. They are out there to protect you.
That is important. If they weren't out there, chaos would reign.
Chaos isn't so bad, but it's better when it comes in moderate increments.
It's imperative that those who do plan on going out to celebrate tonight to be safe.
Having said that, The Brazil Times hopes all readers have a great new year. Sure, 2007 was full of its ups and downs. It really wasn't all that bad.
But let's hope 2008 starts off great and continues to roll throughout the year.
But it would be catastrophic if the new year started for someone in a jail cell.
No one wants to spend time there period.
Enjoy your New Year's Eve. Have fun on New Year's Day. Spend the day watching bowl games while munching on chips and dip,and the legendary good-luck ca-bbage.
But just be careful.
