Poll: Readers staying home

Sunday, December 30, 2007

At least 175 Clay County residents have made plans to do something today.

And according to The Brazil Times' latest online poll, close to 100 of those residents plan on spending time with their family.

The Brazil Times asked its readers what their plans were for New Year's Eve in its latest poll.

There were three options to choose from, including:

* To spend time with family at home,

* Heading out for party time, and

* Going to sleep early. Really ready for the holidays to be over.

Of the 175 respondents, 96 (54.9 percent) said they planned on spending time with family today. Fifty-one readers (29.1 percent) said they would opt for a quick exit to the day as they are really ready for the holidays to be over.

In contrast, only 28 respondents (16 percent) said they planned on heading out for party time.

Four readers also left comments on the recent poll. One reader stated, "I have three small kids, so staying home is funnier and letting the kids drink grape juice."

Still, another reader said, "Won't have to worry about any drunk drivers unless they run into our home."

A third reader stated, "As always, but who better to spend the special time with," while the fourth respondent said, "Miss all the fun."

The current Times' online poll is "What is your New Year's Resolution?"

There are six options, including:

* To lose weight,

* To be more responsible,

* To yell and scream when the Colts win the Super Bowl again,

* To become a better person,

* To quit smoking, and

* Other.
