Sewers head council's topics
The Center Point Town Council met Friday night at Town Hall for its regular monthly meeting.
Newly elected and re-elected council members were sworn in at the meeting, which was pushed back three days because of the New Year.
Cynthia Gray was sworn in as the new member-at-large, and Roger Campbell took oath to be Clerk/Treasurer again.
Utilities Clerk Rosella Parks was not in attendance, as she was recovering from an injury.
The council addressed sewer concerns, approving the number one pump being sent for repair after the number two pump is returned and repaired.
The board also approved replacing the sewage plant's flow meter, which was installed in 2001, but has not been working correctly for several years.
The board asked to be reported to concerning a leaking air valve and if the source of increased sewer flowage is found.
The town's contract with the fire department for 2008 was approved with the same cost, $3,000, as last year.
Other housekeeping issues included keeping the town's depository at Riddell National Bank, and Gray and Campbell are attending a "boot camp" in Indianapolis put on by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns Jan. 14-16.
Campbell showed the board the new forms the board will need to post every month, and explained that any vouchers or claims need to be sent in to him the Wednesday before the Town Council meeting so they can be placed on the docket.
The next Town Council meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m.
