Two Clay County residents and a Terre Haute woman were injured in a two-vehicle accident near the Terre Haute International Airport Thursday afternoon.
Around 12:15 p.m., members of airport security, medical personnel from the Indiana National Air Guard Unit, Vigo County Sheriff's Department and the Seelyville Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the accident scene near the intersection of State Road 42 and Hunt St.
According to officials, Stephanie Kress, Terre Haute, was traveling along Hunt Road and apparently failed to yield, crashing into a vehicle driven by Mark McMichael, Center Point. McMichael's vehicle rolled several times, crashing into a north east corner of the airport fencing with Kress' vehicle.
McMichael and passenger Joan Stockrahm, Harmony, had to be extricated from their vehicle.
TransCare transported Kress and McMichael to Vigo County hospitals for treatment of their injuries, while Stockrahm was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for undisclosed injuries. Efforts by The Brazil Times to contact Methodist Hospital about Stockrahm's condition Friday evening were unsuccessful.
Airport officials estimate approximately $1,800 in damages were done to the fence during the accident.
Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
