Norma Pell Hood, 76, Brazil, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at her residence.
She was born March 31, 1931, in Clay County, to Jesse Marshall and Ferrie Bell Weaver Pell.
She was a graduate of Van Buren High School and was a homemaker and beautician for 10 years, owning and operating Hilltop Salon from 1965 until 1975.
Survivors include her husband, James "Ike" Hood, whom she married Aug. 27, 1949; two sons, Steve Hood and wife Debbie, Brazil, and Jim Hood and wife Debbie, Brazil; daughter, Robin Fox and husband Larry, Brazil; three brothers, Harry S. Pell and wife Janet, Carbon, G. Jay Pell and wife Joann, Brazil, and Dale Pell and wife Helen, Knightsville; two sisters, Joan Hood, Brazil, and Loretta Joy Hybarger and husband Bill, Brazil; sister-in-law, Joann Pell Price, Brazil, and her grandchildren, which were her life, Christina Modesitt and husband Derick, Brazil, Joe Fox, Brazil, Stuart Hood, Brazil, Andrea Gearld and husband Josh, Brazil, John Hood, Brazil, and David Fox, Vincennes; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Peyton Gearld, Brazil; and several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dean and Doyne Pell, sister, Virgie Hunt, brother-in-law, Bill Hunt, and sister-in-law, Betty Pell.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil. Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, and Thursday from noon until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Church building fund.
