North Clay sixth-graders claim win over Clay City

North Clay Middle School boys' sixth-grade basketball team swept Clay City Elementary School boys' fifth- and sixth-grade teams Tuesday night in the Knights gym.

In the first game, the North Clay A team received even scoring from across the roster in a 40-7 victory.

Tanner Wilson, who scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter, led the Knights.

Jim Mace scored seven, Bo Stewart and Nate Newton added six points each and Connor Ganly and Trevor Okulovich contributed five points each.

Clay City scored all of their points in the second quarter.

Joshua Arcenal scored four points, and Wyatt Gard hit a three-point bucket to cap the Eels scoring.

In the second game, the Eels matched their boys' fifth-grade team against North Clay's sixth-grade B team.

The Knights went up quickly, when Jason Sampson hit a shot 15 seconds into the first quarter. Sampson finished with nine points.

With North Clay up 4-0, Evan Rogers received a pass from across the court and made a wide-open jumper to cut the Knights' lead in half.

North Clay pulled away in the third quarter, led by top-scorer Daniel Kimball. Kimball scored 10 points in the post.

The Knights won, 38-8.

Paiden Myers, Seth Barrett and John Hyatt all added two points for the Eels.

Austin Butts, Colton Burgess and Michael Fureigh scored four points, Kelly Hawkins added three points and Nic Yocom finished with two points for the Knights.
