Thursday, January 10, 2008

Several residents of Clay County were recently recognized for leadership in the Wabash Valley Human Resources Association.

* Fredia Haviland, District Manager for Kelly Services, Inc., was installed as 2008 President.

* John Mace, Western Indiana Employment & Training Services, is assuming the role of Community Relations Director.

* Cindy Crowder, Assistant Professor, Indiana State University's School of Technology, will serve as Collegiate Director for the organization.

Chartered on June 9, 1959, the Wabash Valley Human Resources Association is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM currently has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and more than 225,000 individual members.

Having grown to more than 110 active members, the organization's mission is both to serve professionals in the human resource management field and to advance the profession. For the last 5 years the chapter has received Superior Merit Status recognition.

During 2007 the chapter received SHRM's highest recognition, The Pinnacle Award, for the development of the High School Leadership Program. Led by Dawn Forsman, PHR, 2007 President, the chapter implemented a successful program targeting high school students for leadership development. Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and local sponsoring businesses partnered in the program. To further recognize this accomplishment, the chapter was awarded $1,000 by the official award sponsor, ADP.
