Eels fall short in fourth quarter against Cardinals

CLAY CITY -- The Clay City Eels dropped their third consecutive game on Thursday night, falling 36-27 to Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference foe Bloomfield.

The Cardinals pulled away down the stretch, using a 15-7 advantage in the fourth period to edge out the Eels.

Clay City trailed by just one point at halftime and after three quarters, but the Cardinals finished strong, getting 3-pointers by both Sierra and Ariel Fuller.

Sierra Fuller had a game-high 15 points to pace the Cardinals, who improved to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the SWIAC. Clay City meanwhile falls to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Emily Reed led the Eels with 12 points in the game, including a 3-pointer with Angie Camp adding seven and Britney Glass chipping in with six.

Next up for Clay City is a road trip to North Daviess on Monday night.
