A couple arrested during a traffic stop early Friday morning will remain in custody during the weekend to await arraignment for drug-related charges Monday.
Members of the Brazil City Police Department arrested Wesley E. Okulovich, 37, Brazil, and Penny J. Meeks, 44, Indianapolis, during a traffic stop initiated by Sgt. Dennis Archer in an area near the intersection of Lambert and Hendrix streets.
Upon discovery of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the vehicle, Okulovich and Meeks were preliminarily charged with one count of felony methamphetamine possession. The Clay County Prosecutor's Office will review the case for further charges.
Shortly after 2 a.m., the two were booked into the Clay County Justice Center on $7,000 cash bonds, with no 10 percent allowed.
Jail officials told The Brazil Times that the couple would probably remain in custody until they appear in court at the Clay County Courthouse sometime Monday or early next week.
