Ruth Eileen Carpenter, 84, Brazil, passed away at 8:40 p.m., Jan. 14, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Reelsville, to Ross and Lilly (Wood) Bennett.

Ruth was an excellent cook, loved decorating her home, shopping with her girls, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered fondly as "one in a million".

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Carpenter, daughter, Kay Reberger, son, Maynard Keith Arnold, infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Arnold, a grandson, Mikel Kent Reberger, her siblings, Vern Bennett, George Bennett, Melvin Bennett, James Bennett, Helen Bennett, Catherine Thomas, Pauline Grimes, Evelyn Parker, Dorothy Bennett and an infant brother.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Jane Strother and husband Bill, Plainfield, Ind., Julia Van Stone and husband Paul, Naples, Fla., Terrie Dahlstrom and husband Joseph, Brazil, Rita Marie Smith and husband Roger, Sarasota, Fla., Forest Eugene Carpenter, Indianapolis, son-in-law, Charles K. Reberger and daughter-in-law Lucy Arnold Detro, Grandchildren, Julie Herrick, William Strother, Brian Strother, Jamie Sage, Bradlee Strother, Douglas Van Stone, Kimberly Maleike, Valerie Plante, Bradly Van Stone, Keena Matthews, Troy Arnold, Winniferd Arnold, Lara K. Lagle, Lilliann Ruth Rutledge, Joey P. Dahlstrom, Dennis Whitlow, Robert O. Whitlow, Melissa Ruth Carpenter, Rebecca L. Whitlow, Amanda Mary Whitlow, Ericca M. Whitlow and Mitchell Keith Reberger, Forty-two great-grandchildren (five generations, six times) and six great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Jane Bennett and Stella Bennett, many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at 2 p.m., at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, from Noon - 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mooseheart City of Children, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, Ill. 60539, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
