Harmony United Methodist is starting a new program: Sunday Evening Contemporary Worship. The first service will be Feb. 10. Food and fellowship will start at 6:15 p.m. with the Worship at 7 p.m.
The program is planned to help build Christian Community from various churches and denominations. Although geared more toward a younger crowd, the service is open to all the young at heart, too. It will be a time for praise, celebration, and reunion. Join us.
Our Sunday School class started a new study this past Sunday. We concentrated on the Book of Psalms for several weeks. This new program will use a different Eagles song each week to analyze as it applies to our past and present.
It is hoped that class members will look to how God should be the most important part of our lives.
David Brinson will lead the study as we use the songs to reflect on our thoughts and problems. His main job will be to keep us on the topic of study so we don't start reminiscing about what we were doing when we first heard the song. Join us to tune into WGOD, the universal radio station, each Sunday morning for the next few weeks.
Flood Buckets are needed for Hoosiers in Northern Indiana. We have helped people in flood situations throughout the United States. Now it is closer to home.
A list of needed supplies is listed at the back of the sanctuary at H.U.M.C. Generally, these large buckets contain a mop, sponges, cleaning solutions, rags, paper products, window cleaners, etc. Pell's Shopping Center donated the buckets. Please donate to fill them if you can.
Pastor Bob Kumpf has been providing a teaser to the congregation each Sunday. He gives us the title of the following week's sermon and the scripture from which it will be taken. Read John 1: 29-42 to be prepared for "Spread the News" next Sunday.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the 137 families affected by the Great Dane layoff.
Don't forget those folks from Pfizer and other local businesses that are on layoff or permanent shut down, too.
These hardships affect the entire community but can be devastating to the family that faces little or no income. It seems that almost everyone lives with the fear of job loss/no insurance these days. Sad.
Harmony United Methodist Women will meet at 7 p.m., at the church on Jan. 28. Ladies will decide who will provide the lessons and suppers for the following months.
Rita Jones will provide the lesson and Carolyn Kumpf will provide supper for this first meeting. All ladies are invited to attend.
Colleen Harden will be at Harmony Methodist on Saturday morning, Jan. 19 to conduct Christian Education Training. This is an excellent program for the folks that work with Sunday School, Bible School, and other youth group activities. Call the church for more information.
A work session is needed at the Harmony-Lena parsonage in the next couple of weeks. Contact Chris Pell for the date and time. All help is appreciated.
