She was born Feb. 23, 1916, to Fred and Gladys (Robinson) Jackson.
She graduated from Cory High School in 1933.
Freida worked for two or three days a week at the Ladies Ideal Store, Clay City, for many years. This was more of a pastime for her rather than a job. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Baking pies and noodles were her specialty.
She and her husband Harvey enjoyed traveling on Turner trips. The western United States were among their favorites.
Reading was her pastime and reading poetry was what she enjoyed the most.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Steuerwald, mother Gladys Jackson, father Fred Jackson, brothers Sidna Jackson, Donald Jackson, and Fred Jackson as well as two siblings in infancy.
She is survived by a daughter Anita Collenbaugh and husband Don, Worthington, Ind., and two sons Fred Steuerwald and wife Janice, Clay City, Victor Steuerwald and wife Dorcus, Titusville, Fla., brother David Jackson, Vincennes, grandchildren, Christopher and Timothy Steuerwald, Amy Williams and husband Robert, and Adam Steuerwald and wife Dixie, great-grandchildren, Krysten Steuerwald, Jayci Steuerwald, Remington Williams, Tanner and Colt Steuerwald, step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Emily Williams
Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Saturday, Jan, 19, 2008, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Jerry Caskey and Pastor Nathan Couch officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Association.
