David Allen "Butch" Pettit Sr., 63, Greencastle, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22,2008.

Born May 26, 1944, in Greencastle, he was the son of Harold and Mary Goodman Pettit.

He was employed at G.C. Murphy in Greencastle for 19 years and at DePauw University for 20 years.

He was a long-time member of Greencastle Moose Lodge and enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.

He had coached Putnam County girls' softball, Babe Ruth and Little League ball teams.

He loved deer and watching deer in the outdoors.

His parents, a brother, Robert Dale Pettit, and a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Coffman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Frieda E. Swim Pettit, son David Allen Pettit Jr. and wife Tonya, Brazil; daughter Kim Perkins and husband Tim, Greencastle, three brothers, William Pettit and wife Sherry, Richard Pettit and wife Carol, and Ronald Pettit and wife Carol, all of Greencastle, sister-in-law Teletha Pettit, Greencastle, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Friday (today), at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
