Church to host benefit for students

Thursday, January 24, 2008

First Christian Church will host a benefit concert Feb. 2, from 6-9 p.m., to assist Ashley Roll and Monique Richard in earning tuition for a People to People Student Ambassador trip to Australia.

The headliner is Foreveratlast, a local band, and two to three other bands will play, too.

A raffle will take place, and there will be many door prizes, including a grand prize of a guitar. There will be concessions. Tickets for this concert are $4 per person.

The fundraising events are being coordinated with Ashley, Monique, their friends and family, Foreveratlast, and First Christian Church in Brazil.

Anyone interested in volunteering or making a contribution is asked to contact Ashley Roll or her parents at 442-0914.

People to People was founded by President Dwight D Eisenhower to promote world friendship and understanding through individual citizens.

The students were accepted into the prestigious program after receiving a nomination, submitting references, and participating in a successful interview with the delegation leader.

Students going on this trip can earn academic credit while exploring the culture and heritage of the places they visit.
