Clay County residents are encouraged to attend the Clay Community Schools 1028 preliminary determination hearing Monday, Feb. 18, at North Clay Middle School, at 6 p.m.
Jeff Qualkinbush, of Barnes and Thornburg law firm, Indianapolis, will be moderator for the evening.
Tom Neff, from Schmidt Associates, will present the physical renovation project and Damien Maggos of City Financial will present the financial portion of the renovation.
Qualkinbush will then explain the rules for speaking during the meeting and open the floor to the public for comments and questions.
The public will be asked to sign in if they desire to speak, and will be limited to three minutes each to minimize the length of the meeting.
Speakers must be residents and taxpayers or registered voters within the corporation limits and need to limit their comments to the renovation project only.
The school board reserves the right to remove anyone from the meeting who does not act appropriately or disrupts the meeting, including being discourteous to the board or other speakers.
After the public comments have finished, any questions posed will be answered. Then, Qualkinbush will summarize the resolution for the project.
The school board will motion to vote on the resolution, which Superintendent Dan Schroeder recommends approval of, and decide if the corporation will move forward with the project.
The next regular school board meeting will be held March 13, at North Clay Middle School, at 7:30 p.m.
