Sharing stories about Relay

Friday, February 15, 2008

If this is the first time you're participating in the American Cancer Society's Clay County Relay For Life, The Brazil Times wants to hear why you chose this year to start.

According to 2008 Clay County Relay Committee Chairperson Kathy White, everyone has a unique story about how they become involved with the 14-hour fundraising event scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., on Saturday, May 3, at the Clay County YMCA.

"It's through sharing these stories that someone might find the encouragement they need to keep on keeping on," White said.

With that spirit in mind, The Brazil Times will once again feature the "Why I Relay" profiles as part of the "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back" national theme.

Featuring the stories and photos of "first-time" Relay participants, people interested in sharing their reason for deciding to help to find a cure for cancer can contact The Brazil Times at 446-2216 during normal business hours.

"Relay is a way to remember and honor those diagnosed with cancer. That really is the main reason why we all relay," White said. "Many Clay County residents are helping to search for the cure, please join us."

Those interested in learning more about Relay, can contact Kathy White at 446-9733 or by e-mail at kwhite@ticz.com or log on to www.events.cancer.org/rflclaycoin for more details about how to become involved.
