INDIANAPOLIS -- For the second straight season the Northview wrestling team has a senior grappler that has reached the second round for the IHSAA State Wrestling Finals.

Beau Pingleton got off to a slow start as Pendleton Heights' Cory Wenzara took the Knights' competitor down and put him on his back for a quick 4-0 lead.

Though he trailed early, Pingleton battled right back with seven straight points to take the lead before he dropped Wenzara via fall to advance to today's second round of competition.

Zach Stultz and Yorktown's Kyle Mosier were scoreless after the first round of action.

Stultz chose to start the second period on the bottom and Mosier was able turn him for the fall to end an outstanding career for the Knights' senior.

Stultz ends his senior year with a 42-4 mark overall while Pingleton moves on to face Mishawaka's Steven Sandefer in round two.

Northview's Zach Stultz grapples with his first round opponent in Friday's wrestling state finals.
Sandefer won a 10-6 decision against Cameron Friend of Leo in his opening match.

Action continues today with the quarterfinals beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the semifinals to follow.

Admission is $8 at Conseco Fieldhouse.
